The expensive appliances - the ones you live with for a decade. We weight after-sales service, year-two reliability and running cost over the spec sheet, because that's what decides whether you're still happy three summers in.

How we think about home appliances
A home appliance is a multi-year commitment, not a purchase. The brochure sells you peak performance; we care about the boring middle of its life - whether the coating, compressor or motor is still fine in year three, and whether there’s a service technician in your city when it isn’t. Running cost matters too, and on the big appliances it often dwarfs the price difference at the till.
So across every category here we weight the same three things over the spec sheet: service-network reach, year-two reliability from what owners actually report, and real running cost.
