How to choose a kitchen chimney in India
The chimney aisle is a suction-and-warranty shouting match - “1500 m3/hr”, “1800 m3/hr”, “15 years warranty”, “5-stage filter”. Most of it doesn’t predict whether you’ll be happy with the thing. The suction figure is a lab number measured with no duct attached, so a “1500” chimney pushing air through a 6-inch pipe and two bends clears far less; the “15-year warranty” is almost always the motor only, while the comprehensive cover that pays for a dead board is two years, sometimes one. What actually separates a chimney you still like in year three from one you resent is how loud it is at the speed you actually use, whether the autoclean does more than reset a timer, and whether the brand turns up when the motor or the PCB dies.
So we weight noise, the real warranty terms and a serviceable brand over the headline suction, and we keep the two decisions that matter most front and centre: filterless autoclean versus a baffle filter you clean by hand, and ducted versus ductless. We also say the quiet part out loud - the installation and the duct pipe are a paid extra that the listing rarely mentions, and that surprise bill is the most common complaint in the whole category.
