An egg boiler is a hot plate with a lid and a steam sensor - nothing more. Almost every one draws 300 to 500W and cooks seven eggs in about ten minutes. What separates one you still use next year from one whose switch pops off in month two is duller: build quality where the heat meets the plastic, an auto cut-off that really cuts off, and a brand that answers when it fails.

How to choose an egg boiler in India
Ignore the wattage and the “boils 7 eggs” headline first - every unit here does that in about the same time. This is a ₹400 to ₹1,000 category of near-identical machines, many built by the same handful of factories and sold under different brand names, so the box tells you almost nothing about which one survives.
What actually decides it is reliability and safety. The single most common failure across every brand is the unit simply dying in month two to six - the power switch pops off, or it stops heating. After that come auto cut-offs that don’t cut off (and burn the tray), blunt plastic piercing pins that crack eggs instead of poking them, and inner trays that rust. We weight those over litres, watts and preset counts. And we flag the odd truth of this aisle: the recognisable premium brands are often the worse buy, because you pay two to three times the price for the same hot plate.
